SPORTS - The Komoka Kings began their first homestand of 2025 with a loss to the St. Thomas Stars. The Stars beat the Kings in a close 4-3 matchup that saw only one difference in the final number of shots on goal.
St. Thomas opened the scoring in the first period with a goal on the power play at the 15:27 mark. Komoka responded with a goal in the final seconds of the period. Hayden Kemps put the puck in the net for the Kings with an unassisted goal.
The Kings took the lead in the second period with a goal by Everett Force. Credit for the assist went to Dylan Lale. But the Stars evened things up with a goal at the 13-minute mark. St. Thomas went on to score another goal, just seconds later.
The Stars scored their fourth goal halfway into the third period. The Kings responded with a goal by Ben Funston; his first in a Kings jersey. Daymond Kindree and Gavin Hern were credited with the assists. The game ended with a total of 33 shots on goal for the Kings, and 32 for the Stars.
